In 1912, after receiving the Gold Medal in 100m Swimming during the Summer Olympics in Stockholm, Duke Kahanamoku presented his dream of including Surfing in the Olympics to King Gustav of Sweden and the International Olympic Committee.

The Duke’s legacy lives on today through the best surfers in the world:

“I think Surfing should be included, and I would absolutely love to surf in the Olympics. It would be such a great honor to represent my country.”

– Gabriel Medina (BRA)

“I would love to see Surfing in the Olympics to be able to represent my country on the world’s greatest sporting stage.”

-Johanne Defay (FRA)

“Surfing in the Olympics would be a dream come true. What else would be better than walking in the parade amongst the best athletes in the entire world?”

– Tatiana Weston-Webb (USA)

“If Surfing makes it into the Olympic Games, it would create so many dreams for kids from all around the world.”

– Damien Hobgood (USA)
